Coral Bay Attractions
Coral Bays's main attraction is the bay
itself, with the Ningaloo Marine Park on your doorstep. The fishing isnt
too bad either !
Ningaloo Reef
Every member of the family can enjoy a part of
the Bay. The children can swim safely in the protected
waters, amongst the tropical reef fish. The reef
is only metres from the shore.
The more experienced and adventurous can snorkel or do
a scuba dive cruise on the outer reef. A number of
specially designed viewing vessels can cruise over
the sanctuary in comfort and without damaging the enviroment.
Fishing
Coral bay fishing opportunties from both beach and boat
give the angler, novice to guru, plenty of chances to land
something special. Sanctuary zones have been set up to protect
the local fish stocks and these areas are NO FISHING zones, but there
are plenty of other areas to cast a line.
Boat launching from Coral Bay can be done directly in the Bay
area, but as the area is sandy, 4WD's are required. Boats must be retrieved
at the end of each day as they are not allowed to be anchored
overnight in the Bay
Whale Sharks
Whale sharks are the worlds largest fish and they visit Ningaloo
Reef from March through to June. They feed on the krill and
Ningaloo Reef is the world's biggest congregation of these
majestic fish. Charter boats will take you out to snorkel
with these giants of the deep and people come from the world over
for the experience. The experience is open to swimmers of all ages.
Turtles
Marine turtles, including Green, Loggerhead and Hawksbills, inhabit
Ningaloo Reef all year round. The nesting season starts around
November and the hatchlings start to appear in January
